Under new California laws including the Medical Marijuana Regulation and Safety Act, certain felons will have a harder time applying for the new licenses or getting employed at licensed marijuana businesses.
The licensing authority may deny the application for licensure or renewal of a state license if any of the following conditions apply:
- A felony conviction for the illegal possession for sale, sale, manufacture, transportation, or cultivation of a controlled substance (including marijuana.)
- A felony conviction involving fraud, deceit, or embezzlement.
- A felony conviction meeting certain criteria regarding violence or seriousness.
